About this item: Saipin Vanichmongkol gives life to a delightful elephant, complete with ears, eyes, trunk, and tail, in this handmade 100% cotton sling. The pachyderm's body has a charming blue and eggshell white diamond pattern; its ears, tail and the bag's strap are Prussian blue. Inside the sling's only compartment is a dark blue cotton lining; a magnetic button snap serves to close the crossbody bag. Saipin's designs also help generate local employment. "I provide work for about 40-50 women who work from home with the materials I give them, that way they can still take care their families," says the Thai artisan.

About our Artist: "I was born and raised in Bangkok. When I married and had , we all moved to Chiang Mai, where I could follow my dream of owning a small venture. I started by making animal dolls. I sew them by hand, something I've loved doing since I was young. My work starts from design patterns, choosing fabrics that are available locally, and decorating them with easily sourced materials. Initially, the people working with me assumed that dolls were intended only for , but I adapted my dolls for multipurpose use, not just as a toy. For example, I design ornaments for home or as party decorations, including Christmas tree ornaments.
